BricsCAD Lite V21
Leverage the modern 2D drafting tools and powerful multi-threading capabilities to design at a higher level of detail, faster and more accurately
“BricsCAD is very fast and very stable. One of the things that we like about BricsCAD is that we can work with very large files.“
“Adapting to BricsCAD was really easy. Within one week, we had made a full migration to BricsCAD: as if we had never changed our CAD platform at all.”
Why BricsCAD Lite is better than AutoCAD LT 2021
There’s no need to change your printers, templates, blocks or sheet set layouts to move to BricsCAD – they are 100% compatible. Command names, aliases, and system variables are the same in BricsCAD and AutoCAD®. BricsCAD is based on native DWG for the highest compatibility with other CAD users across all industries.
- Command compatible
- Menu (.CUI, .CUIX) compatible
- Macro/script compatible
- Support file (.PC3, .LIN, .PAT, .DWT, .SSM) compatible
- Based on 2018 DWG technology
Full LISP Support
You can run LISP routines developed in AutoCAD and other CAD applications, and develop your own in the BricsCAD LISP Advanced Development Environment (BLADE). BricsCAD is based on OpenLISP, with modern memory management and great performance. Lisp routines are the easiest way to automate processes and workflows for bulk layer manipulations, changing entity properties, automate drawing and XREF relationships, standardize plotting and publishing workflows, etc. Best of all LISP code is platform independent.

- Multi-core CPU Support. BricsCAD supports multi-threaded, multi-processor operations to speed product performance for file loads, drawing generation and rendering.
In each new version of BricsCAD, we strive to improve display performance. Enjoy smooth zoom and pan operations in drawings containing hundreds of thousands of entities.
Use your AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks in BricsCAD
You can use the Dynamic Blocks that you created in AutoCAD directly inside of BricsCAD. Control visibility states and stretch, flip, and rotate just as you would in AutoCAD.
Greater control with the BricsCAD Drawing Explorer
The Drawing Explorer centralizes in BricsCAD what in other CAD platforms amounts to as many separate dialog boxes. Easy to navigate, easy to search.
What’s New in BricsCAD Lite V21?
Heal your 2D drawings with Optimize
Search your 2D drawings for errors and inconsistencies and automatically fix them with the OPTIMIZE tool. You can tweak your tolerance values “live” to define the types of errors that you want to correct, and you’ll see the impact in real-time.
Automatically map Layer structures across drawings
Save time setting up the same layer structure over and over again. Automatically map layers of your current drawing to the layer names and properties from another specified drawing with the LAYTRANS command.
Visibility states of 2D and 3D Parametric Blocks
Create custom visibility states of a Parametric Block in the Block Editor by altering parameters for each visibility state. The state of every Block can be defined in the Properties Panel.
Move entities intelligently with Moveguided
Like BricsCAD’s CopyGuided functionality, MoveGuided automatically detects guide curves in an entity selection set and helps you move your selection to identical locations in your drawing. MoveGuided also heals underlying geometry automatically.
Auto-constrain 2D Parametric Blocks
BricsCAD automatically constrains 2D entities and generates Parametric Blocks with editable parameters. You need to see it to believe it!
Arrays of Parametric Blocks
Select the essential parameters of your Parametric Blocks and make them available for modification in the Properties Panel. The Array parameters can control the number of columns and rows, and Block spacing.
Reduce un-necessary drawing data with Simplify
Simplify can drastically reduce the number of un-necessary vertices in polyline and hatch boundaries, without changing their shape. This speeds access to your files, and significantly reduces drawing file size.
Performance optimization using background threads
You no longer need to wait for External References (XREFs) to be loaded. BricsCAD uses multi-threading to load XREFs, perform complex calculations and more, all in the background, while you continue working on your design.
Undo changes per entity with the History Property
Use the History Property of individual entities to view, or revert to, previous states of the entity. This allows for the selective Undo of individual drawing elements, while leaving other elements intact.
Image handling with real-time preview
Adjusting images is easier and more accurate, with real-time preview of the cropped image as its boundaries are adjusted.
Improved displaying of mesh geometry
We have improved the display of mesh geometry to offer better representational accuracy, and more accurate dimensional take-offs of mesh entities. Extra mesh properties have been added to the Properties Panel (faces, edges and vertices).
Combine different text annotations
Combine a group of TEXT entities into a single MTEXT entity with COMBINETEXT.
Export to DGN, PRC and 3D PDF
Easily export files as DGN, PRC and 3D PDF, directly from BricsCAD.
BricsCAD Lite Offers More…
Convert repeated geometry to Block Definitions
Blockify automatically creates a block definition and replaces all matching sets of entities with block references throughout your entire drawing. You can reduce DWG file size up to 90% by using Blockify to find repetitive geometry and convert it into block references.
The Quad: drawing, editing, and information near the cursor
BricsCAD’s unique Quad is a “head-up” command palette that predicts your command usage and offers one-click access to the command you’ll most likely need next. It’s powered by an A.I. agent that makes those command predictions, based on how you use BricsCAD.
Automatically align copied entities
CopyGuided automatically aligns copied entities to relevant geometry using automatically generated guide curves. You can explicitly select entities to use as guide curves or let BricsCAD determine them based on the drawing elements in your selection.
View the distance between any two entities, and move the second one by simply typing in a new distance value. This happens without needing to start a command. Additionally, the aligned nearest distances along the X-, Y- and Z-axes of the WCS display when you double-click an element in your drawing.
Adaptive grid snapping
BricsCAD’s dynamic snap grid changes to reflect your zoom level. The adaptive grid snap feature lets you create, edit, nudge and manipulate entities using precise values without the need for keyboard entry. The snap step size adapts based on the current screen zoom factor.
The power of the Shift key
With BricsCAD’s Dynamic UCS, the coordinate system is aligned automatically with the entity under your cursor. By tapping the Shift key, you can lock or unlock the UCS, which allows you to start drawing outside the selected entity or face. And 2D users can increase their drawing productivity by automatically aligning the UCS with selected entities for both 3D and 2D entities.
The Structure Panel
The Structure Panel give you a bird’s eye view of the entities that make up your drawing. You can select entities by category and perform actions on them. You can show or hide entities, isolate them, or zoom directly to them.
Rectangular and polar grids
BricsCAD provides both rectangular and polar grids with adaptive step size and dynamic origin placement to speed drawing creation. And geometric relationships between entities, like tangency and perpendicularity are shown graphically by lighting the touch-point on-screen.
The Manipulator is a versatile tool that lets you move, rotate, scale and mirror selected entities. If you hold down the Control key when starting an action, the Manipulator will keep the original entities, automatically creating copies of them. The Manipulator can act on single or multiple entities at once.
